Busan IPark vs Jeonbuk Motors 16/05/20
16 May 2020
Busan IPark welcome Jeonbuk Motors to the Busan Gudeok Stadium, looking to defy the odds and post their first win in the 2020/21 K League 1 season.
Rocked by a 2-0 away loss to Pohang Steelers on Matchday 1, the hosts will face a daunting prospect of kick-starting their new league campaign against the side they’ve failed to beat in ten consecutive K League 1 H2Hs (D1, L9). In turn, Busan’s last league home win over Jeonbuk dates back to 2010, with the ‘Busan Park Royals‘ suffering six defeats in the subsequent nine such H2Hs (D3). A slight encouragement for Cho Deok-je could be the fact that his players have avoided defeat in their last four competitive home games (W2, D2), keeping a clean sheet on three of those occasions.
As for the visitors, they pulled off a tight 1-0 home win over Suwon in the league curtain-raiser to bring a disastrous six-game losing streak to an end, friendlies included (D3, L3). But, taking into account Jeonbuk’s results from the final stretch of the last season, they are unbeaten in nine successive K League 1 games (W5, D4), with each of their five triumphs during that period yielding a clean sheet. Moreover, the reigning champions have picked up seven wins in their last 12 top-flight road trips (D4), restricting their rivals to a maximum of one goal per match on nine of those occasions.
