Burnley vs Chelsea 27/10/19
27 October 2019
Winners in their last five road trips in all competitions, Chelsea head to Turf Moor looking to stretch their unbeaten run against Burnley in the Premier League (PL) head-to-head meetings to four games (W2, D1).
Burnley’s run of four consecutive PL fixtures without a loss (W2, D2) has suffered a blow last time out, with Leicester pulling off a 2-1 triumph at the King Power Stadium. Far more comfortable at home, the Clarets have registered all three of their PL wins this term in front of the home crowd (W3, L1). It is, however, fair to say that all of their PL wins have come against sides from the bottom half of the table, while they’ve failed to pick up a single point from three encounters with the top-five teams. Breaking the deadlock could prove vital for the hosts here, as none of Burnley’s PL home matches saw both teams score. Still, slow starters at home, the Clarets have failed to find the net in three of four first halves of the PL football played so far.
On the other hand, three successive PL triumphs have seen the visitors break into the top four for the first time this term. Importantly for Franck Lampard, his players have beaten their opponents to nil twice during that run. Chelsea’s defensive problems have seen them concede 14 league goals already – more than any other side from the upper half of the table. But, the Blues have put together three PL away triumphs after a dismal 4-0 loss to Manchester United in the league curtain-raiser. All of those wins have seen them take a multiple-goal lead into halftime and score at least three goals in total. Also, Chelsea enjoy traveling to Burnley, as they’ve won four of five top-flight H2Hs at Turf Moor (W4, D1), scoring at least two goals in each of those successes.
