Brighton & Hove Albion vs Tottenham Hotspur 23/09/18

23 September 2018

Brighton & Hove Albion prepare to host Tottenham Hotspur at Falmer Stadium, searching for a first-ever victory over the London Side.

The Seagulls have opened the Premier League campaign with a 2-0 loss to Watford, after which they pulled off a stunning 3-2 win over Manchester United at home, which was so far Brighton’s best performance of the season. The two consecutive 2-2 draws, with Fulham and Southampton that were preceded by a 1-0 loss at Anfield place Chris Hughton’s team just three points away from the danger zone.

After a promising start of the season that saw them defeating Newcastle United, Fulham, and Manchester United, the Spurs have slowed down a bit, which eventually cost them two straight failures. A disappointing 2-1 loss at Vicarage Road to Watford has negatively influenced Mauricio Pochettino’s side, which then lost to Liverpool at the Wembley Stadium, as they now trail the Reds by six points. The things have gone from bad to worse after Tottenham lost to Inter Milan in the Champions League opener despite having a goal lead ten minutes before the final whistle.

Pascal Gross is still struggling with an ankle injury, while Florin Andone may get a chance to register his first minutes in the new season after recovering from a long-lasting injury. On the other hand, Hugo Lloris, Juan Foyth, Moussa Sissoko, Dele Alli, and Vincent Janssen are all expected to remain on the sidelines due to various physical problems.
