Brighton & Hove Albion vs Chelsea 16/12/18

16 December 2018

Brighton & Hove Albion welcome Chelsea to the Amex Stadium hoping to extend a four-game unbeaten run (W3, D1) in the Premier League.

A narrow 1-0 loss to Burnley last weekend has brought Brighton’s three-game lossless run to an end (W2, D1), and it was also the sixth consecutive league game in which the Seagulls failed to keep a clean sheet. What’s more, Chris Hughton’s players have struggled to keep a clean sheet in five out of seven home league clashes this campaign, conceding two goals per match three times in the process. However, Albion have scored at least one goal in each of their eight competitive meetings at home this season although they have notched more than one goal per match on just three occasions in the run.

Meanwhile, the visitors have bounced back from a shock 2-1 loss to Wolverhampton to beat Manchester City at home 2-0 last time out. However, the Blues come into this encounter following a disappointing 2-2 draw with MOL Vidi in the Europa League. Still, Maurizio Sarri hopes to see his players maintaining an impressive goalscoring tally which has seen the Pensioners scoring a minimum of two goals per match four times in their last five competitive outings. Chelsea’s principal problem ahead of this game could be their recent road form (D1, L2). Before playing out a draw in Hungary, Sarri’s men have suffered two consecutive losses in the Premier League, conceding five goals while scoring two during the run.
