Bournemouth vs Tottenham Hotspur 04/05/19

4 May 2019

After a disappointing 1-0 home loss to Ajax in the Champions League, Tottenham Hotspur return to the Premier League action as they travel to Vitality Stadium to take on Bournemouth.

Out-of-form hosts have pulled off just one triumph in their last six Premier League fixtures (W1, D2, L3) although four of those games have featured over 3.5 goals. Additionally, the Cherries are desperate to post a victory in their last PL home game this campaign, especially after suffering five straight failures (D2, L3). If Bournemouth win here, it would probably see them score 2+ match goals considering Eddie Howe’s players have netted over 1.5 match goals in all seven of their PL home wins so far. A potential worry for their home fans could be the fact Bournemouth have lost four of five H2H home encounters with the PL’s top-six sides (W1, L4) although three of those defeats have seen them lose by a minimal one-goal margin.

Although the visitors seem to be on the verge of securing the Champions League promotion, it was a tough ride for them over the past two weeks. The Spurs have lost four of their last five competitive outings (W1, L4), with four of those clashes ending with the identical 1-0 scoreline – one in their favor and three against. Things are going from bad to worse for the traveling side as they’ve entered this round after losing four consecutive road clashes across all competitions – all of them have been settled with a narrow one-goal margin. For Mauricio Pochettino’s men, goals have been in short supply away from home recently, with Tottenham netting one goal or less in eight of their last nine road games across all competitions. However, an encouraging fact for the North Londoners is that they’ve won two of three away PL H2H meetings with Bournemouth (W2, D1), scoring over 3.5 match goals in both triumphs.
