Bournemouth vs Leicester City 13/07/20

13 July 2020

Leicester City travel to Vitality Stadium to take on Bournemouth, looking to post a third consecutive win in the Premier League H2Hs and preserve a one-point lead over fifth-placed Manchester United.

Although a goalless home draw with Tottenham last time out brought Bournemouth’s five-game losing run in the Premier League to a halt, the hosts enter the round on a run of nine league games without a win (D2, L7). A lack of firepower up front saw the Cherries net under 1.5 goals in seven of those nine games, which has been true in eight of their last nine top-flight H2Hs (W2, D5, L2). Despite Bournemouth’s struggling for goals, Vitality Stadium has been a venue of entertainment in 2020. Five of their seven Premier League fixtures held here since the turn of the year have featured goals in both halves and over 2.5 goals in total.

Meanwhile, the visitors have been out of form since the resumption of football in June (W1, D3, L1), scoring one goal or less in four of five Premier League games in the post-pandemic period. In turn, for Leicester, goals have been in short supply away from home lately. The Foxes have netted under 1.5 goals in eight of their previous trips in all competitions (W1, D3, L4), drawing a blank in the first half in the last six. Brendan Rodgers’ men face another uphill task now, given that they’ve failed to pick up a win in four top-flight away H2Hs (D2, L2), drawing a blank in two of their last three such clashes.
