Borussia Monchengladbach vs Werder Bremen 08/04/19
8 April 2019
Out-of-form Borussia Monchengladbach welcome Werder Bremen to Borussia-Park desperately trying to get all three points here and boost their chances of advancing to the Champions League next season.
Although the hosts have spent the majority of the season fighting for the top of the table, a disastrous form over the past couple of months (W1, D2, L5) has seen them tumbled down the Bundesliga table. Currently sitting fifth with a two-point deficit to fourth-placed Eintracht Frankfurt, the Foals look to snap a frustrating four-game BL home winless run (D1, L3). During that period, Dieter Hecking’s players have conceded 12 goals while they’ve allowed just three in nine BL home outings prior. What’s more, Die Borussen’s last four BL home games have seen them score only two goals while they’ve bagged 2+ match goals in all nine league home fixtures prior.
On the other hand, three back-to-back BL wins have fired the visitors to the sixth place, as they now hope to interfere in the Champions League promotion race. Interestingly, all three of Werder’s last league victories have seen them score 3+ match goals, with two of those games ending with the same 3-1 scoreline. Notably improved on multiple fronts, Die Grün-Weißen have racked up a seven-game unbeaten road run across all competitions (W4, D3), with all three of their draws in that period ending with the identical 1-1 scoreline. Die Werderaner’s main problem at the moment is their inability to keep a clean sheet, with Florian Kohfeldt’s crew conceding at least one goal in six straight BL outings.
