Borussia Dortmund vs RB Leipzig 18/12/19
18 December 2019
Borussia Dortmund will try to maintain winning momentum when they take on RB Leipzig at the Signal Iduna Park in a massive Bundesliga (BL) fixture this midweek.
Three consecutive league wins have propelled the hosts to third in the table, and another success here would help them reduce the gap on table-toppers Leipzig to a single point. Dortmund’s upturn in form is closely related to their free-scoring form, as Lucien Favre’s men netted two or more goals in all four of their previous BL outings, scoring at least four in the last two. Far more comfortable on home turf, ‘Die Borussen’ have registered 17 of their total 29 league points at the Signal Iduna Park (58%), remaining the only side in Germany’s top-tier that is yet to taste home defeat this season (W5, D2). Dortmund must be lining up another victory here, given that they’ve won two of their last three BL H2Hs with Leipzig, restricting the Red Bulls to a maximum of one goal per match across all of those clashes.
Meanwhile, the visitors have hit a purple patch recently, picking up six consecutive league triumphs to go top of the table. Notably, all of those wins have Leipzig score at least three goals, while five witnessed them find the net in both halves. Furthermore, Julian Nagelsmann’s men have racked up a six-game unbeaten away run in all competitions (W5, D1), netting 2+ match goals in each of those fixtures. No team has scored more BL away goals than Leipzig (22) this season, with Die Roten Bullen bagging an average of 2.75 goals per BL road match. But, they have suffered two defeats in three top-flight away H2Hs with Dortmund (W1, L2), with two of their last meetings here producing over 4.5 goals each and seeing both teams score.
