Borussia Dortmund vs Internazionale 06/11/19
6 November 2019
Borussia Dortmund and Internazionale come face-to-face in the UEFA Champions League (CL) for a clash that can determine the faith of both sides in Group F.
After a 2-0 defeat in the reversed fixture in Italy, the hosts are looking to settle the score at the Signal Iduna Park, where they have not suffered a loss in eight of their last competitive outings (W6, D2). The Bundesliga giants have conceded just one goal in five of their previous CL home matches, drawing a blank on three of those occasions, though. Interestingly, none of Dortmund’s last 11 CL games has seen both teams score, with eight of them featuring under 2.5 goals. Three defeats in five CL matches ahead of this one (W1, D1) can’t encourage Lucien Favre, neither can the fact that the BVB have lost three of their last five encounters against Italian opposition.
Meanwhile, a victory over Dortmund has helped the visitors to kick-start their CL campaign (W1, D1, L1), as they now sit three points adrift of Group F toppers Barcelona but level on points with the BVB. Curiously, the Nerazzurri have opened the scoring inside the first 25 minutes in both of their previous CL outings, netting the two remaining CL goals beyond the 85th minute. Playing away from home in Europe has recently proved to be Inter’s ‘Achilles heel’ as they have pulled off just two wins in their last 13 continental trips (D4, L7). Additionally, they have failed to grab a victory in their previous three visits to Germany (D1, L2) and have clinched only one win in the last eight matches on German soil (D3, L4).
