Borussia Dortmund vs Bayern Munich 11/11/18

11 November 2018

One of the biggest Bundesliga derbies will take place at Signal Iduna Park this weekend, with Borussia Dortmund preparing to host Bayern Munich.

With a record of seven wins and three draws, the Yellow and Blacks currently top the Bundesliga table, as the only undefeated side. Apart from Borussia Monchengladbach, the BVB have the 2nd-best home record in the German top flight having won four out of five local games. With 30 goals scored, Dortmund’s attacking potential surpasses all other German teams, with Lucien Favre’s players notching a brace on seven occasions so far. The current leaders score an average of 3 goals per match, while they allow an average of 1. However, Dortmund’s principal problem relates to their defensive displays, considering they’ve only kept a clean sheet once at home so far, having already conceded seven goals.

On the other hand, the reigning Bundesliga champions are struggling to impress under Niko Kovac this season, as they currently trail their forthcoming opponents by four points. However, apart from a 2-0 loss to Hertha Berlin, the Bavarians have won the remaining four away matches, having bagged at least two goals in each of those triumphs. Unlike some previous seasons, the Reds failed to impress in the final third for the majority of the campaign, scoring an average of 1.8 goals per game. Furthermore, their defensive performance has dropped comparing to last year, as they’ve only kept a clean sheet twice since the beginning of the season, which puts them on par with Nurnberg and Freiburg for instance.
