Besiktas vs Udinese 03/08/19
3 August 2019
Besiktas come face-to-face with the out-of-form Udinese side at the Untersberg-Arena for a friendly meeting that will be the first-ever encounter between these two teams.
The Turkish giants have secured back-to-back wins over the domestic lower-league sides at the beginning of their preparations, but they’ve failed to replicate in the last two outings. The Black Eagles have first suffered a 2-0 loss to Eibar before playing out a goalless draw with Apollon Larissa last time out. Still, Besiktas’ final six league matches of the 2018-19 campaign have been full of entertainment, with five of them featuring over 2.5 goals and seeing both teams score (W4, L2). Also, the Black and Whites have been leading at the break on just two occasions across the same period, with five of those clashes featuring goals in both halves.
Meanwhile, the Italian side has struggled for form this summer, having sustained three defeats in as many summer friendlies so far. All of those matches have seen Udinese concede two or more goals and score at least one. The Friulian’s rough period has arrived after they’ve finished the last season strongly with three straight wins, in which they’ve scored 2+ match goals apiece but struggled to keep a clean sheet. As a result, all six of Udinese’s previous games have produced over 2.5 goals and seen both teams score, while all five of their preceding encounters featured under 2.5 goals, with just one of them witnessing goals at both ends.
