Belgium vs Scotland 12/06/19
12 June 2019
Scotland will face a daunting test of taking on Belgium at the King Baudouin Stadium in Brussels in their European Championship Qualification clash.
Sitting at the top of Group I, the hosts have put together three triumphs at the beginning of their ECQ campaign, beating their rivals by a comfortable two-goal margin across all of those wins. Additionally, De Rode Duivels have secured four triumphs in as many competitive home games since returning from Russia. All four of those wins have seen them score over 1.5 match goals and restrict their rivals to a maximum of one goal per game. Impressively, Belgium’s last competitive home loss dates back to June 2016 (2-0 against Italy), with Roberto Martinez’s men racking up a ten-game unbeaten home run ever since (W9, D1).
Meanwhile, the visitors have secured back-to-back ECQ wins following a frustrating 3-0 away loss to Kazakhstan in the opening game of their qualifying campaign, with Steve Clarke’s players scoring precisely two goals per match in both of those wins. Also, the Tartan Terriers have finished top of their respective group in the UEFA Nations League with a record of three wins and a loss. However, Scotland’s poor away form could be a major influence here, considering they’ve suffered four defeats on their last six road trips (W2, L4), bagging just one goal across those failures.
