Bayern Munich vs Paderborn 22/02/20
22 February 2020
Bayern Munich will look to maintain their good run of form when they entertain Paderborn at the Allianz Arena this weekend.
High-flying hosts have torn Koln apart last time out, securing a 4-1 victory on the road to take their undefeated Bundesliga (BL) run to eight straight games (W7, D1). Except for a goalless home draw with Leipzig a fortnight ago, the Bavarians have netted over 1.5 goals in seven of their past eight league outings, scoring a minimum of three per match six times in the process. Additionally, the reigning holders are unbeaten in four consecutive BL home matches (W3, D1), with each of their successes during that four-game sequence yielding a winning margin of multiple goals. In turn, 71.43% (five) of Bayern’s seven BL home triumphs have produced a winning margin of at least four goals. Only Borussia Dortmund (40) have managed more BL home goals than Bayern (33) so far this season, with 22 of them arriving in the second half (67%).
As for the visitors, three successive league games without a win (D1, L2) have nailed them to the bottom of the table, as they now sit six points adrift of the safe zone. Interestingly though, nine of Paderborn’s total 16 BL points came away from home (56.25%), with Steffen Baumgart’s side avoiding defeat in four of their last five league road trips (W2, D2, L1). Paderborn try to keep it tight when they play away from home. Five of their ten BL away fixtures have ended separating the sides by under 1.5 goals, with 71.43% (five) of their seven road results (win/loss) this season seeing the winner on the day keep a clean sheet. But, Paderborn now face a formidable obstacle as they take on a side they’ve lost to in all five of their previous competitive H2Hs, losing by a margin of at least four goals on four of those occasions.
