Bayern Munich vs Eintracht Frankfurt 24/05/20
24 May 2020
Bayern Munich will be eager to settle the score with Eintracht Frankfurt following a dismal 5-1 away loss in the reverse Bundesliga (BL) fixture when the two sides lock horns at the Allianz Arena this weekend.
The hosts have continued to showcase their dominance of domestic football after the coronavirus pandemic, beating Union Berlin 2-0 away from home to bring their unbeaten league run to 12 consecutive matches (W11, D1). Impressively, six of Bayern’s 11 wins during that 12-game sequence have been accompanied by a clean sheet, including the last six, with ten producing a margin of at least two goals. At home, the reigning holders have won all but one of their six previous BL outings (D1), scoring over 1.5 second-half goals on five of those occasions, too. Lucien Favre’s men must be lining up another success here, as they take on a side they’ve beaten in all ten of their previous top-flight H2Hs held at this venue.
The visitors, on the other hand, have continued to struggle after the pandemic, succumbing 3-1 to Borussia Monchengladbach at home only to bring their losing league run to four. Frankfurt’s inability to find their footing now sees them sit just five points clear of relegation-threatened Fortuna Dusseldorf, and three defeats in their last five BL road trips can’t encourage the traveling fans either. What’s more, no team has returned fewer BL away points than Frankfurt so far (7), with Adi Hutter’s side losing nine of 12 league away fixtures (W1, D1). Their problems on the road are closely related to Frankfurt’s poor attacking output away from home. Indeed, just 11 of their total 39 league goals scored have come on travels (28.21%)
