Bayern Munich vs Bayer Leverkusen 01/12/19

1 December 2019

Encouraged by a stunning 6-0 away win over Crvena Zvezda in the Champions League, Bayern Munich will be looking to replicate such performance when they take on fierce Bundesliga (BL) rivals Bayer Leverkusen at the Allianz Arena this weekend.

The hosts have racked up four consecutive wins in all competitions since sacking Niko Kovac and have reduced the gap on table-toppers Borussia Monchengladbach to a single point. Notably, all four of their previous competitive triumphs have seen the Bavarians score at least two goals and shut out their opponents. Another success is certainly on the cards here, as Bayern defeated Bayer Leverkusen in all six of their previous top-flight home H2Hs. The unstoppable attack will be Bayern’s main weapon in this clash. Except for a shock 2-1 loss to TSG Hoffenheim, the reigning Bundesliga holders have netted 2+ match goals in all seven of their remaining home outings in all competitions this season.

Meanwhile, fresh from a 2-0 away win over Lokomotiv Moscow in the Champions League, the visitors will try to extend their unbeaten BL run to three games (W1, D1). To do that, Die Werkself will have to avoid conceding the opening goal, as they’ve returned a single point from four BL matches that saw their rivals draw first blood. But, breaking the deadlock has been Bayer’s ‘thing’ this season, as they’ve opened the scoring in seven of 12 league outings so far (W5, D2). Interestingly, none of their six BL road trips have ended in a draw (W3, D2), with four of their last away results (win/loss) seeing the winners on the day keep a blank sheet.
