Bayern Munich vs Augsburg 26/09/18
26 September 2018
After a comfortable 2-0 win over Schalke 04 on the road, Bayern Munich will be facing Augsburg in front of the homes supporters, with the match scheduled to take place at the Allianz Arena in midweek.
The Bavarians are currently topping the Bundesliga table as the only team to secure all four victories. So far, the Reds have defeated TSG Hoffenheim and Bayer Leverkusen at home, winning both matches by an identical 3-1 result, while they outplayed Stuttgart at the Mercedes-Benz Arena, once again notching three goals but keeping a clean sheet this time. Additionally, Niko Kovac’s side opened the Champions League campaign with a routine 2-0 victory over Benfica in Portugal, as they now look to extend an outrageous 10-game winning streak.
Meanwhile, after defeating the German lower-league outfit Steinbach Haiger by two goals to one, the Fuggerstädter have started the Bundesliga campaign with an encouraging 2-1 win over Fortuna Dusseldorf on the road. However,Manuel Baum’s players have failed to keep the same rhythm, losing two out of the following three matches while playing out a 1-1 draw with Borussia Monchengladbach. Last weekend’s 3-2 loss to Werder Bremen that was preceded by 2-1 failure against Mainz currently places Augsburg just two points away from the danger zone.
In the home team, Corentin Tolisso and Kingsley Coman are ruled out with injuries, while Alfred Finnbogason, Killian Jakob, Fredrik Jensen, Dong-Won Ji, Julian Schieber, and Konstantinos Stafylidis are all sidelined with various physical problems.
