Barcelona vs Slavia Praha 06/11/19

6 November 2019

Barcelona are looking to maintain a 100% start to their UEFA Champions League (CL) season as Group F rock-bottom side, Slavia Praha, arrive at the Camp Nou.

The hosts come into this fixture after suffering a shock 3-1 away defeat to Levante at the weekend, which was the third consecutive competitive game that they’ve failed to keep a clean sheet. After playing out a goalless away draw with Borussia Dortmund in the Group F curtain-raiser, the Catalans have won both of their subsequent group matches via the identical 2-1 scoreline to claim the top spot. Barcelona’s intimidating unbeaten CL home run of 33 straight games without a single loss (W30, D3) will give them a boost in their efforts to extend their three-point lead on Dortmund and Inter Milan. Moreover, the reigning La Liga holders are looking to stretch their winning streak against the Czech sides to six games and also post their sixth home win in seventh such encounter.

Meanwhile, after a bright start and a 1-1 away draw with Inter, the visitors have gone down against both Dortmund and Barcelona, conceding two goals apiece while scoring one in the process. Interestingly though, Slavia’s last competitive away loss dates back to late April, with the ‘Červenobílí’ picking up eight wins in their previous 14 road trips in all competitions (D6). However, the Czech champions are still chasing their elusive first away win in the CL group stage (D2, L2). They face an uphill task here given that they have won just two of 12 European clashes against the La Liga sides and are yet to register a win on Spanish soil (D4, L2).
