Barcelona vs Getafe 15/02/20

15 February 2020

Barcelona will look to post their fourth consecutive La Liga (LL) win over Getafe when the two sides meet at the Camp Nou this weekend.

Winners in their last two LL outings, the hosts desperately need a win here to remain in touch with Real Madrid, who have a three-point lead at the summit. Far more comfortable at home, the reigning LL champions have won 63.27% (31) of their total 49 league points at the Camp Nou, as they remain one of three sides yet to lose on home turf this season (W10, D1). The majority of Barcelona’s home successes have been empathic triumphs, with seven of their ten such victories yielding a winning margin of three or more goals. Quique Setien must be lining up another win, given that the Catalans have outplayed Getafe in ten of their previous 14 top-flight H2Hs held here (D4), keeping a clean sheet in the last four.

High-flying visitors have overseen an upturn in results recently, going from three straight defeats in all competitions to four successive LL victories. Notably, all seven of those results (win/loss) in that period have seen the winner on the day keep a clean sheet, with five yielding a margin of multiple goals. In turn, all six of Getafe’s last LL away fixtures have witnessed the winning side keep a blank sheet, with five featuring under 2.5 goals. Particularly dangerous in the first half, Jose Bordalas’ men have netted 57% (eight) of their 14 LL away goals before the break. It will be of the essence for Getafe to open the scoring here, especially considering they lost three of four league road trips in which they’ve allowed the first goal (W1).
