Atletico Madrid vs Osasuna 15/12/19
15 December 2019
Atletico Madrid will try to return to winning ways in La Liga (LL) when they take on Osasuna at the Estadio Wanda Metropolitano this weekend.
The hosts have failed to secure a win in three successive LL outings ahead of this fixture (D2, L1), drawing a blank in the last two. In fact, Diego Simeone’s men have won only once in six of their previous league matches, with five of those games featuring under 2.5 goals. Pressure mounts on Simeone as his side slipped to seventh in the table and currently trail table-toppers Barcelona by eight points. However, Los Rojiblancos are massive favorites here, as they’ve won five of their previous six top-flight H2Hs with Osasuna held in Madrid, including the last three (W5, D1). Also, Los Colchoneros have registered four of their total six LL wins this season on home turf (66%), conceding just five goals in eight LL home games so far.
Meanwhile, the visitors have lost only once in their last seven league matches (W3, D3, L1), moving up to the upper half of the table. Interestingly, six of those fixtures during that seven-game sequence have seen both teams score, with five of them producing over 2.5 goals. But, the returnees have failed to find the back of the net in three of their last six LL road trips, picking up just one triumph in that period (W1, D3, L2). Another potential worry for Jagoba Arrasate is that his men have kept a clean sheet only once seven of their previous league away games, allowing 2+ match goals on three of those occasions. Such a disappointing away form will hardly help Osasuna to snap a two-game losing run in top-flight H2Hs with Atletico.
