Atalanta vs Juventus 31/01/19
31 January 2019
The Coppa Italia quarter-finals clash at the Stadio Atleti Azzurri d’Italia sees Atalanta searching for their first home victory over Juventus since 2002.
It will be a daunting prospect for the hosts to pick up a victory over the Turin-giants considering Atalanta failed to beat Juventus in their last 29 H2H meetings across all competitions (D5, L24). The Goddess pulled off an outstanding comeback in last weekend’s Serie A clash with AS Roma, managing to recover from a 3-goal deficit to walk away with a draw in the end. It was the fifth consecutive game in which Gian Piero Gasperini’s men bagged over 1.5 goals and also the tenth race this season in which they’ve scored over 2.5 goals. While the attack wildly exceeded expectations in the recent period, the defense has struggled to keep up the pace. Not only Atalanta’s backline failed to keep a clean sheet in four of their last six outings, but they’ve also allowed over 1.5 goals per match in each.
The Bianconeri also performed a miraculous comeback during the weekend, beating Lazio 2-1 on the road in spite of being on the back foot 16 minutes before the final whistle. The reigning Serie A holders enter this meeting after racking up a five-game winning run in all competitions, while scoring over 1.5 goals per match four times in the process. Another evidence of Juventus’ dominance is that Massimiliano Allegri’s men have gathered 16 clean sheets in 28 competitive outings this season, allowing over 1.5 goals per match only four times so far. Atalanta are actually the last team to score a brace against Juventus, and they are also the one of two Italian teams to accomplish that this term.
