Aston Villa vs Everton 24/08/19
24 August 2019
Aston Villa and Everton go head-to-head at Villa Park for a Premier League (PL) clash that will see the hosts trying to put a disastrous 15-game winless PL streak to a halt (D1, L14).
The returnees have endured a difficult start to the new season having suffered back-to-back losses at the beginning of the 2019-20 campaign. Both of those defeats have seen Villa concede two or more goals and score precisely one. Interestingly, none of Aston Villa’s last ten home games in all competitions has ended in a draw (W7, L3), with eight of them featuring over 2.5 goals. More than half of those matches (6) have ended with the same 2-1 scoreline (W4, L2). The Lions will now try to win their elusive first points in the new PL season against a team who beat them in five of their previous six H2H meetings (W1, L5). What’s more, the Claret & Blue Army have outplayed Everton only once in their last five H2Hs at this venue (W1, D1, L3), with all three of those defeats being settled by a comfortable two-goal margin in Everton’s favor.
Meanwhile, the visitors are unbeaten in the opening two days (W1, D1), with both of those games featuring under 2.5 goals and seeing zero goals in the second half. The Toffees will now look to post their first PL away win after four consecutive failures (D3, L1), with three of those games featuring under 2.5 goals. For Everton, goals have been at a premium when away from home recently, as they’ve struggled to find the net in three of their previous four PL trips. Just two of Everton’s last eight PL trips have seen both teams score, with only three of them producing over 2.5 goals.
