AS Roma vs Torino 06/01/20

6 January 2020

AS Roma will look to post their sixth straight win in Serie A (SA) H2Hs with Torino when the two sides lock horns at the Stadio Olimpico this weekend.

The hosts have put together five consecutive league games without a loss ahead of the winter break (W4, D1), with each of their successes in that period seeing them score over 2.5 match goals and restrict their opponents to a maximum of one. Winners in their last four SA home fixtures, the Giallorossi are again odds-on favorites, as they’ve also registered nine successive victories in top-flight home H2Hs with Torino. Roma’s recent home game has usually sparked into action after the break, with eight of their last ten SA home goals scored coming in the second half. But, it will be a daunting prospect for Paulo Fonseca’s men to keep a blank sheet here, as they’ve failed to shut their opponents out in seven of eight SA home fixtures so far this season, conceding over 1.5 match goals on three of those occasions.

Meanwhile, the visitors have gone from back-to-back SA wins to two straight league matches without a victory (D1, L1), with three of their last SA fixtures all featuring three or more goals and seeing both teams score. The Maroons have overseen a notable upturn in results recently, as they’ve racked up three successive SA away matches without a loss (W2, D1) after suffering four consecutive defeats. Five of Torino’s seven away results (win/loss) have come via a single-goal margin, with four of those matches seeing the teams head to the halftime break on level terms. It will be crucial for Torino to open the scoring here, as they’ve lost all four of their SA away games that have seen them ship the opener.
