AS Roma vs Juventus 13/05/19

13 May 2019

Sunday’s Serie A action concludes with a heavyweight clash between AS Roma and Juventus at Stadio Olimpico as the hosts hope to stretch their unbeaten home run against Juve in H2Hs to five games (W2, D2).

Sitting three points adrift of fourth-placed Atalanta, the hosts have to make something out of this game if they look to preserve their chances of securing the Champions League promotion. Although unbeaten in their last six SA outings (W3, D3), two of those Giallorossi’s wins have ended with the identical 1-0 scoreline, with Claudio Ranieri’s men scoring over 1.5 match goals only twice in the remaining four games in that period. Still, if Roma win here, it would probably see Juventus conceding at least two goals given the fact La Lupa have netted over 1.5 match goals in six of seven competitive home triumphs in 2019. A potential worry for Roma could be that they’ve failed to preserve a clean slate in six of eight SA home games since the turn of the year, allowing 2+ match goals three times along the way.

Meanwhile, the visitors have already claimed their eighth successive Serie A title, but they’ve failed to wrap up all three points in their last two SA fixtures (D2), with both of those draws ending with the same 1-1 scoreline. What’s more, the Bianconeri’s only two league defeats this campaign have arrived on their previous four SA road trips (W1, D1, L2), with Massimiliano Allegri’s players conceding precisely two goals in both of those failures. Still, no team has shipped fewer away goals than Juventus (13) this campaign, with the reigning holders keeping eight clean sheets in 17 SA away fixtures. Interestingly, although they can boast the third-best attacking away record in SA (31 goals scored), the Turin giants have netted 2+ match goals on 12 of 17 SA road trips, which is the best SA record this season.
