Arsenal vs Wolverhampton Wanderers 02/11/19

2 November 2019

Arsenal welcome Wolverhampton Wanderers to the Emirates Stadium looking to put an end to their two-game Premier League (PL) winless streak (D1, L1).

The hosts come into this meeting after suffering the Carabao Cup elimination to Liverpool on a penalty-shootout after the encounter ended in a 5-5 draw. It was the third consecutive match in all competitions that the Gunners scored and conceded at least two goals (W1, D2). But, the North Londoners boast an almost perfect competitive home record this season (W6, D2), netting over 1.5 match goals in seven of those fixtures. Additionally, six of those matches have produced over 3.5 goals, with four seeing both teams score at least two. Still, their last four top-flight home H2Hs with Wolves have not been productive in terms of goals, as all of them have featured less than three (W2, D2).

Although unbeaten in five consecutive PL outings ahead of this trip (W2, D3), the visitors sit in the bottom half of the table, four points clear of the relegation zone. Wolves have established themselves as ‘draw specialists’ this season, playing out six stalemates in ten PL fixtures, with three of them coming away from home. Unlike Arsenal’s impressive attacking output, the Wanderers’ away games have been tight mostly, with four of their five PL trips featuring under 2.5 goals. Also, Wolves’ away game usually sparks into life late, with five of six away goals they’ve scored so far coming beyond the 70th minute.
