Arsenal vs West Ham United 07/03/20

7 March 2020

Arsenal and West Ham United will face off in an all-London Premier League (PL) matchup at the Emirates Stadium this weekend.

The hosts enjoy a seven-game unbeaten league run (W3, D4) and are now looking to post their third consecutive PL win for only the first time this season. Yet, another disappointing league campaign for Arsenal has so far been draw-dominated, with 48.15% of their PL games ending in a draw (13/27). But, the Gunners will hope to build on two consecutive PL home triumphs that both saw them score over 2.5 goals and win the second-half ‘to nil.’ Indeed, most of their good work this season have come on home turf, as 64.10% (25) of their total 39 PL goals scored arrived at the Emirates. Mikel Arteta’s men could as well improve that record now as they take on a side they’ve scored at least three goals against in their last three top-flight home H2Hs (W3).

In the meantime, the visitors ended their disastrous seven-game winless PL run (D2, L5) with a 3-1 home victory over Southampton last weekend, but their top-flight status remains questionable. The Irons enter this round sitting level on points with 18th-placed Bournemouth, as they seek their first away points in the new calendar year (L4). Each of their last three PL away defeats witnessed West Ham concede the opener inside the first 30 minutes of play and subsequently allow at least one more goal beyond the hour mark. Permitting Arsenal to get on the scoresheet first could as well mean the end for David Moyes’ players, who lost all seven of their PL road fixtures in which they’ve conceded the opening goal.
