Arsenal vs Bournemouth 06/10/19
6 October 2019
Backed by a 4-0 thumping of Standard Liege in the Europa League, Arsenal will be looking to post their third consecutive Premier League (PL) triumph over Bournemouth when the two sides meet at the Emirates Stadium this weekend.
Although unbeaten in four successive league outings, the hosts have pulled off just one triumph in that period (W1, D3), with each of those matches seeing both teams score. Unai Emery can’t complain about his team’s attacking performance, as the Gunners already racked up 12 goals this term, netting 2+ match goals in four of seven PL games. However, a fragile defense is certainly a cause of concern, as the North Londoners failed to keep a clean sheet in six successive league outings, allowing over 1.5 goals on three occasions in the process. But, Arsenal’s four-game PL unbeaten run could be stretched here, as the Gunners won all four of their top-flight H2Hs with Bournemouth at this venue.
Meanwhile, the visitors head to London on the back of the three-game undefeated PL run (W2, D1) desperate to snap a frustrating record at the Emirates. Just like Arsenal, Bournemouth’s main issue so far has been the inability to prevent their rivals from scoring, as all seven of the PL fixtures this term saw both teams score. Notably, each of the Cherries’ last five PL games has produced over 3.5 total goals and featured goals in both halves (W2, D1, L2). Furthermore, all four of those results (win/loss) have ended with the same 3-1 scoreline, with the side that broke the deadlock eventually running away with all three points.
