Ajax vs PAOK 14/08/19

14 August 2019

After playing out a 2-2 draw in Greece, Ajax welcome PAOK to the Johan Cruijff Arena for the second leg of their Champions League Qualifiers tie.

Although unbeaten in their last five outings, the hosts have secured just two triumphs across those games (W2, D3), both of which have come at home and seen them beat their rivals to nil. Those two wins aside, all of the remaining 12 of their previous 14 matches have seen both teams score, with ten of them producing over 2.5 goals. Interestingly, the Lancers have suffered just two defeats in 15 competitive games in 2019 (W11, D2, L2), although both have arrived in the Champions League. But, Ajax’s devastating attack has found the net across all of those games, netting 2+ match goals 13 times along the way.

Meanwhile, it will be PAOK’s fourth visit to Amsterdam in the 21st century, with the Greek giants failing to pick up a win in all three of their previous showings here (D2, L1). The visitors come into this encounter looking to extend their unbeaten run to nine games (W5, D3). All of those victories have seen the Greek side score three or more goals and concede one utmost. On the other hand, all of those three stalemates have seen both teams score, with two of them ending with the same 2-2 scoreline. The Black-Whites have lost none of their previous eight away games across all competitions (W5, D2), scoring 2+ match goals in each of those five wins while restricting their rivals to a maximum of one goal per match each time.
