AC Milan vs Fiorentina 30/09/19

30 September 2019

AC Milan and Fiorentina go head-to-head at the Stadio San Siro this weekend, with the home side frantically trying to find a way out of a severe crisis.

The hosts have failed to pick up a single point in three of the opening five rounds of the SA fixtures (W2, L3), and Marco Giampaolo’s time at the San Siro could be drawing to a close in case of another disappointment. What’s more, the Rossoneri’s toothless attack has drawn a blank twice already, scoring precisely one match goal in the remaining three league outings. As a result, four of Milan’s five SA matches have featured under 2.5 goals and have seen only one side find the net. The one thing Giampaolo can rely on here is Milan’s solid recent home H2H record against Fiorentina (W3, D1, L1), even though that one loss came last season.

Meanwhile, the visitors go into this fixture off the back of a vital 2-1 home triumph over Sampdoria, which was their first SA success since mid-February. While Vincenzo Montella hopes to see his team build on recent performance, Viola’s recent SA away record suggests they have a long way to go before returning to their glory days. The Tuscans have struggled to return three points in eight consecutive SA trips ahead of this one (D2, L6). Interestingly, while both of those stalemates ended with the identical 2-2 scoreline, five of their defeats in that period have seen Fiorentina go down by a narrow one-goal margin.
