AC Milan vs Cagliari 11/02/19

11 February 2019

The final match of this weekend’s Serie A action takes place at the Stadio Giuseppe Meazza as AC Milan welcome a vulnerable Cagliari team.

Although unbeaten in their last five SA clashes (W2, D3) the hosts come into this meeting carrying back-to-back league draws. Currently sitting two points adrift of fourth-placed Lazio, the Rossoneri have to wrap up all three points here if looking to regain the Champions League promotion slot. Although his team won three of their last six SA home outings (W3, D2, L1), Gennaro Gattuso has a very few reasons to smile, considering his men failed to hit the net in all of the remaining three. Mediocre performance in the final third has seen the 7-time Champions League drawing a blank in seven of their previous 12 games across all competitions. However, solid defense has managed to mitigate the damage attack created, keeping four clean sheets in their last six competitive meetings.

On the other hand, winless in their previous four Serie A encounters (D1, L3), the visitors are frantically looking over their shoulders as they sit just four points above the relegation zone. Unfortunately for them, the Sardinians have established themselves as one of the weakest road teams in Serie A, having secured only one victory on 11 SA road trips this term (W1, D3, L7). Cagliari’s main problem when playing away from home is a lack of concentration in the final third that has seen them scoring the fewest goals of all Italian teams so far (7). A defense that boast barely one clean sheet after 12 competitive away games can hardly encourage Rolando Maran, especially considering his players allowed over 1.5 goals per match five times in their last six away battles.
