AC Milan vs Benfica 29/07/19
29 July 2019
AC Milan and Benfica met face-to-face at the Gillette Stadium for their 2019 International Champions Cup clash.
The Rossoneri have suffered a narrow 1-0 loss to Bayern Munich in their opening game of the tournament, which was the first time since late April that they’ve failed to find the net. Also, it brought Milan’s five-game unbeaten run to an end (W4, D1). Three of those Milan’s last wins have been settled by a narrow one-goal margin, with Marco Giampaolo’s men leading at the break on three occasions in the process. The Milanese giants have struggled to provide their fans with entertainment lately, as eight of their last 11 matches featured under 2.5 goals, although five of them have seen both teams score.
Meanwhile, the reigning Primeira Liga holders have secured back-to-back wins over Chivas Guadalajara and Fiorentina at the beginning of their ICC adventure. Both of those triumphs have seen Benfica score two or more goals and restrict their rivals to a maximum of one goal per match. Unlike Milan’s, the Eagles recent games have seen a lot of action on both ends. All eight of their previous matches have produced over 2.5 goals, with six of them seeing both teams score. What’s more, Bruno Lage’s devastating attack has netted over 2.5 match goals on seven occasions across the same period, finding the net in both halves six times in the process.
